Mimi represents an exciting next step in our breeding program as she is the first daughter of our doe, Dawnridge Rikki Don’t Lose (Rikki) and our buck, Redwood Hills NSMR Klein Rich (Dicky). Rikki has has passed on her length, uphill build, stature and dairy character to Mimi. Dicky contributes the structural soundness, general appearance, and mammary improvement we are working to establish in the next generation. Mimi is already showing a beautiful blend of these qualities, with a balanced frame, elegant neck, and the presence we want to see in our pasture and in the show ring.

Retaining Mimi allows us to evaluate Dicky’s influence within our own herd, and we have high hopes that she will become an important part of our future breeding plans. She will be shown as a dry yearling through the spring and summer, giving her time to grow and mature before being bred in the fall of 2025.

As a 75% Recorded Grade, Mimi also represents an important step in our long-term breeding goals, as her daughters will be eligible for American Alpine registration. We look forward to watching her continue to develop and beginning her career as a dairy doe at Dawnridge Ranch.

E/E – This doe’s sire and dam have been DNA tested by the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory for Alpha‑S1 Casein. The results help us understand how her genetics may influence the protein and fat levels in milk produced by herself and her daughters. Higher Alpha‑S1 Casein is associated with creamier milk and better cheese-making, while lower levels may be easier for some people to digest.
