Rikki was the very first kid ever born on our farm, and she certainly made sure we would never forget it. Dawnridge Ranch Phoebe labored for more than eleven hours, and in the end we had to assist with the delivery because Rikki was such a large kid. It was an exhausting and nerve-wracking first experience, but thankfully everything turned out just as it should, and that long night welcomed the first generation of our herd into the world.

From the start, Rikki has carried a presence that set her apart. She has matured into a tall, deep-bodied doe with the length, strength, and substance we value, clearly reflecting the best qualities of both her dam and her sire. She combines that physical capacity with a calm, people-oriented temperament that makes her a pleasure to work with every day.

As a mother, Rikki has proven herself as well. She is attentive without being overprotective, steady, and dependable—exactly the kind of doe you want raising the next generation. Her daughter, Dawnridge RHKR Take On Me (Mimi), represents the continuation of her line, and we expect Rikki’s influence to be felt in our herd for years to come.

Rikki is more than just our first kid; she is very likely a lifelong member of Dawnridge Ranch.

E/E – This doe has been DNA tested by the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory for Alpha‑S1 Casein. The results help us understand how her genetics may influence the protein and fat levels in milk produced by herself and her daughters. Higher Alpha‑S1 Casein is associated with creamier milk and better cheese-making, while lower levels may be easier for some people to digest.
