Welcome to the Ranch!

Dawnridge RHKR Tequila Sunrise – Dawn

50% Recorded Grade – GA2449418

Dawn was, in many ways, a happy surprise. Dawnridge Ranch Phoebe was scheduled to retire in 2024, but she had other ideas and managed to pay a visit to Redwood Hills NSMR Klein Rich (“Dicky”) instead. The result was this sweet little doeling, whose arrival reminded us that even the most carefully made plans on a farm sometimes give way to something unexpected and wonderful.

From the beginning, Dawn has felt like one of those goats whose path will unfold in its own time. As she grows, we are watching her develop with an open mind, paying close attention to her structure, balance, and overall dairy character.

Dawn will be shown as a dry yearling through the spring and summer of 2025 and bred in the fall of 2025. Whether Dawn ultimately remains here as part of our long-term breeding program or goes on to contribute to another herd, we are content to see where her strengths lead. Some goats arrive with a very clear purpose, while others reveal it gradually, and Dawn feels like the kind who will tell us who she is meant to be.

E/E – This doe’s sire and dam have been DNA tested by the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory for Alpha‑S1 Casein. The results help us understand how her genetics may influence the protein and fat levels in milk produced by herself and her daughters. Higher Alpha‑S1 Casein is associated with creamier milk and better cheese-making, while lower levels may be easier for some people to digest.
