Annie’s story is tied closely to her full sister, Ruby, who was lost in a tragic accident at just over a month old. While we were never able to watch Ruby grow or see the impact she might have had on our program, Annie brings her own potential. Her presence is deeply meaningful to us, and we are excited to see the contributions she will make in her own right.

Her dam, Dawnridge Ranch Eleanor Rigby (Ellie), is an easy and productive milker who naturally balances calmness with quiet leadership. She gets along with everyone in the herd, yet when the pasture gate opens, every goat waits for her guidance. We repeated the breeding because Ellie’s calm, people-oriented temperament is so valued in our herd, and Annie is already showing that same gentle, even-keeled nature. Her presence feels like a new chapter, full of promise and personality all her own.

Genetically, Annie brings together the best of both sides of her pedigree. From Ellie she inherits excellent body length and overall balance, while Dicky (Redwood Hills NSMR Klein Rich) contributes structural correctness, improvement in the mammary system, and the production potential we are intentionally building into our herd. This combination gives Annie outstanding promise as she matures.

Our goal for Annie is twofold: to preserve the qualities that have made this family so important to our program while also strengthening and refining them in the next generation. We look forward to watching her develop, freshen, and begin her career as a dairy doe, carrying this maternal line into the future at Dawnridge Ranch.

Pending – This doe will be DNA tested by the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory for Alpha‑S1 Casein. The results help us understand how her genetics may influence the protein and fat levels in milk produced by herself and her daughters. Higher Alpha‑S1 Casein is associated with creamier milk and better cheese-making, while lower levels may be easier for some people to digest.
